Abhishek Mehta is the CEO of Tresata, a predictive analytics company redefining business with a deep understanding of customer behavior.

Education

Abhishek Mehta was born in India in 1978.  Mehta graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce in 1998, at Shri Ram College of Commerce; Chartered Accountancy in 1999, at Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Master’s in Banking Management in 2007, at the University of Virginia; and Visiting Scientist in Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2010.

Early Career

In 1998, Abhishek Mehta worked as Management Consultant at Arthur Andersen and left the company in 2001.  That same year, Mehta served as Senior Executive in Business Development at Cognizant Technology Solutions until 2002.  In 2002, Mehta worked as the Managing Director at the Bank of America. As the Managing Director, Mehta was responsible for the big data and analytics, payments, and global operations and technology.

Abhishek Mehta envisioned building a $1 billion company.  While he’s at it, Mehta would like to redefine enterprise software and make his mark on the entrepreneurial scene in the Southeast.  Mehta left his job at Bank of America to launch a big-data analytics firm.

Abhishek Mehta has also become a member of the faculty, graduate school of retail bank management at Consumer Bankers Association from 2009 to 2014.

Tresata

Abhishek Mehta co-founded Tresata after he left his job at Bank of America along with Richard Morris in 2011; and headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina.  Tresata generates a software platform for real-time customer intelligence management. The intention is to produce data factories that will assist supply organizations with timely, precise data that can be applied to answer pressing business problems.  

On May 31, 2011, Tresata raised $500,000 in a seed funding round and an additional $750,000 in another seed funding on December 4, 2012.  The company brought in $333,000 in net revenue in 2012. A year later, that figure jumped to $2.1 million. The company has increased revenue tenfold in each of its first three years with a growth rate of 275 percent.

Abhishek Mehta and his team have built data analysis and predictive tools on the open Hadoop framework.  They’ve been working with large banks, retailers, and health-care providers to better use their data. In 2014, Mehta told the Charlotte Business Journal he has the makings of a $1 billion company.

Other key hires have come from major technology companies. Mehta convinced Roy Lowrance, managing director of New York University’s Center for Data Science, to join their team as chief scientist.

In March 2018, Harris Teeter was partnered with Tresata to bring back hackathonCLT, the boldest and biggest Big Data hackathon in the country for the sixth year in a row.  The overnight event was held at Discovery Place Science. HackathonCLT was co-founded by Harris Teeter and Tresata as the country’s first-ever Big Data Hackathon in 2013 and as a way to spark ongoing conversations and opportunities in Charlotte’s growing technology scene.

On October 10, 2018, Tresata secured $50 million in growth capital investment from GCP Capital Partners, bringing the 7-year-old company valuation to $1 billion.  This investment signifies the first funding Tresata has received from an institutional investor. The company has used the funds to expand the adoption of its solutions globally.  Tresata became a part of the unicorn startup, a private company with a valuation of more than $1 billion.

Tresata sells customer intelligence management software that produces insights into business imperatives such as marketing, customer identity, risk, and fraud.  The software applies cloud-based artificial intelligence and automation technologies to help enterprises work complex data problems that involve population health issues, anti-money-laundering, and omnichannel marketing.

Tresata has raised a total of $51.3 million in over three rounds of funding and generates $139.5K in revenue per employee.  

HSBC’s Global Banking and Markets division have partnered with Tresata in December 2018, to systematize the production and consumption of quality data and actionable intelligence to increase operational management, properly assist its global customers, and critical decision making.

Tresata is has been classified as the fastest developing analytics software company in the United States and recognized as a pioneer in the Big Data software market.  The company has offices in Chicago and New York.  AgilOne is Tresata’s top competitor, led by Omer Artun, who is their Founder & CEO.
